COMPOSITE DECKING INSTALLATION TIPS
Let's give you some information to make your composite deck board installation easier.
Composite Decking Fasteners
Composite Deck Fasteners are designed specifically for use with Composite Deck Boards. Their intention is to leave the surface of your composite deck with either a visible fastener free finish, or as close to it as possible. The grooved edges of a composite deck board are designed to accept a variety of hidden clip systems. These clip systems pinch the board to the subframe, and the clips screws fasten into the deck joists. This is a key factor which contributes to the life span of a Composite Deck, as the majority of the fasteners used to install composite decking never actually penetrate the surface of the deck board, leaving the colored external wrap undisturbed. There are areas in which you will need to use surface screw through the face of a composite deck board, such as the picture frame boards or boarder boards, and stair treads. In this case, it is recommended to use a screw and plug system. In this case, the fastener system has screws which are driven and counter sunk into the surface of the deck board, and at the same time, bore a whole in the surface of the board to accept a color match plug to seal up the surface of the board. Mountain View Building Materials stocks a variety of universal hidden fastener systems suitable for use with all the brands of composite deck boards we stock.
